Escalation guide

Flight compensation claim rejected? Check the evidence and escalate

Turn a generic refusal into a specific, testable explanation before choosing ADR, the CAA route or professional help.

Ask for four things in writing

  1. The precise cause and event timeline.
  2. How that event directly affected your flight.
  3. The reasonable measures the airline took.
  4. The evidence supporting the recorded final arrival time.

Check the rejection category

Most disputes concern route coverage, final arrival time, cancellation notice, extraordinary circumstances, passenger eligibility or duplicate representation. Correct factual errors before escalating.

Escalation

Identify the airline's ADR provider. If it is not a member of an approved scheme, check whether the CAA's Passenger Advice and Complaints Team can consider the complaint. Court action has separate procedural and cost risks.
